Had half of a day to kill today in one of my favorite cities, Zurich. Rich in history and architecture, Zurich is a quaint walking city with narrow alleys, twisty streets and cafes all around. After spending most of the time walking around the area near the river, I worked my way back to the main train station. I figured I would grab a bite before jumping on to my train to head back to the Hilton at the airport.
I stopped in at Walisser Kanne on Lintheschergasse21. This little hole-in-the wall type place had five tables outside on the sidewalk that looked inviting on this late-August evening. After a couple of local beers, I ordered the Fondue. I have made cheese fondue at home a few times, but the Swiss know exactly the right amount of cheese to liquor to make it amazing. Tonight, mine came with baby fingerling potatoes and crusty bread. The cheese bubbled and flowed on top of the bread and potatoes creating a hearty meal for this weary traveler.
Check out Walisser Kanne if you are ever in Zurich. You will be glad you did.
