When someone advertises a 101-Layer Lasagna, my foodie curiosity takes over. This what happened when we was meeting a friend and his wife (who happens to be a celebrity in the surfing world) for dinner in NY. They requested we go
for Italian near their hotel, Le Meridian on Park Ave. So, after a quick Google search, I found Trattoria Dell’Arte and made a reservation.
For being a weeknight, this place was packed. We didn’t have to wait long for our table as I think the host recognized my friend. After being seated, everyone checked out the menu. I didn’t even need to open mine; I knew what I wanted. That big-ass lasagna. All 101 layers of it. So, after some bread and conversation, it arrived. Now, I didn’t know how this thing would look, but in front of me sat 101 layers of thin pasta with sauce, meat and cheese between each one laying on its side. I expected this to taste very rich and filling, but to my surprise, it was light and delicious. And then it was gone. Poof! Did I really just eat the whole thing? I guess I did. And I would do it again in a heartbeat.
