Few hotels make me truly say, “Wow”, but the Waldorf Astoria in Versailles, France was one of those rare occasions. This castle-like hotel directly on the property of the Versailles, was luxurious, modern and comfortable.
From the time we arrived to the time we left, the staff was amazing. They were pleasant, helpful and outgoing.
The room was something out of a movie. High ceilings, beautiful tile and a comfortable bed made for a great night of sleep after a long day exploring the gardens of Versailles. The Salvator Ferragamo soaps and shampoos were a nice touch also.

The only annoyance we had, was one night we wanted to have a picnic in our room. So we went to the local market, got some cheese, bread and a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (when in France…). We called down to the front desk to see if they had a fork and knife we could borrow. They promptly delivered them and we enjoyed our meal. When we checked out we were hit with a 10 Euro delivery charge for the fork and knife. It seemed a bit tacky for a place like this.
Would we go back? Yup. In a heartbeat. It is an amazing place that should be on anyone’s travel list.
