We happen to find ourselves in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA recently. It was a cold and wet night and perfect for a post-dinner treat. We had been wanting to try L.A. Burdick’s since a friend of ours told us how amazing the hot chocolate was. We arrived just before closing at 8:55pm. The place was still jumping with Harvard students sitting at tables, reading books and looking intellectual. We went up to the counter and ordered one dark and one milk hot chocolate. At almost $5.00 for a small, we hoped this place lived up to its reputation.
We found a seat, sat down and proceeded to sip some of the finest hot chocolate we had ever had. Thick, rich, sweet (but not too sweet) and decadent. I am usually a dark chocolate fan, but at L.A. Burdick’s I thought the milk was smoother, creamier and more flavorful. We took our time as we drank our cups of heaven, but when we saw the staff rolling up the carpets around 9:10pm we felt it was time to leave.
If you are ever in Harvard Square, make sure you look them up. You won’t be disappointed.
